Will winter ever end? How can I be looking out the window right now and still seeing all this snow? It has been an incredible year so far at the
office. Congratulations to J.R., our March Basketball event winner! Also, a very special thank you to all who donated blankets for our Blankets of Caring drive in February.

Coming up, we are having back to back informational nights at the office next month that focus on wellness and nutrition. The events take play May 3rd and May 4th. Log on to Facebook or contact the office for more details. The plan so far entails Dr. Vanderloop speaking on nutrition and the eyes and a Master Certified Health Coach – Susan Nemcek speaking on wellness and Diabetes. As the year comes to a close, we could not be more grateful for all the folks that have come through our doors. It has been a very exciting year for contact lens wearers as Acuvue expanded the Vita and Oasys 1-day lenses with options for astigmatism. Also, this summer, The DEWS II report was released which was a project that analyzed all the current research in the Dry Eye arena. This report recommended a formal management strategy based on all this clinical data to help those battling Dry Eye on a daily basis. Next year we expect the results of a very large study that involves Omega 3’s and their place in dry eye management. Our family hopes that you had a very Merry Christmas and wish you healthy vision in 2018!

What an incredible summer it has been! We had a blast being the business sponsor last weekend at the Downtown Kaukauna Farmer’s Market. It was great seeing all our friends, patients, and family down there. Most all the children we ran into were very excited of the upcoming school year. Congratulations to Katy who guessed closest to the correct number of Froot Loops in the Jar that morning. She won a Heart of the Valley gift certificate that can be used at a number of local business in the area.

Next month at the office Clear Approach is welcoming Dr. Paul Williams – a physician from Atlanta, GA who will be leading a discussion on Nutrition. This will be taking place the evening of September 21, at 6:30 P.M. This 1 hour discussion will focus more on general nutrition and what the body requires to maintain its health.

In the last several months there have been numerous launches of new contact lens products to the market. Johnson and Johnson has a new product with there release of Acuvue Oasys 1-Day for Astigmatism and Bausch and Lomb has released Ultra for Astigmatism. With more advanced technology available, we can help our patients with contact lenses better than ever.

Dr. Vanderloop has also recently completed certification in Emerald Orthokeratology fitting – another contact lens option that is worn while you sleep so you can enjoy great vision during the day without contact lenses. Ask about new options and technologies when you see us next!

We waited a little longer to send post the blog this month because we wanted to share this big news with you!

We are already nearing the end of September and what a month it has been. The children are back in school and the weather has really been spectacular. As we settle into our new schedules this fall, we found ourself hearing about the increased time students and parents are spending on digital devices. So in light of this, it may be important to note a few ways the optical industry is helping with visual comfort on these devices: Check out the options below:

EyeZen+ (www.eyezenusa.com): Available now
Ordinary glasses help you see your world.
Eyezen glasses enhance the way you live in it. Our lenses are a technological advancement designed for how you view all your modern digital devices. The result? Lenses that don’t just fit you; they fit how you interact with the world.

Biofinity Energys (http://coopervision.com/contact-lenses/biofinity-energys): Available this fall –
Enhanced optics that help with eye tiredness caused by focusing on close-up digital devices. Digital Zone Optics™ lens design helps you see clearly and go from on-screen to off-screen and back with less effort.

Instead of conducting another informational seminar this month, we decided to hold a fundraising dinner to celebrate World Sight Day 2016. This was held on Thursday, September 15th at the office. We served19 spaghetti dinners and with additional donations from our generous guests, Clear Approach Optometry will be donating at least $250.00 to Optometry Giving Sight. You can check out this great charity online at givingsight.org. We will continue accepting donations until the end of the month. If you’d like to donate, feel free to stop by the office.
